Recap: Wayne City Indians vs. North Clay/Clay City
The Wayne City Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 46-31 fall against North Clay/Clay City. Wayne City has struggled against North Clay/Clay City recently, as their match on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Wayne City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josie Greenwalt, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Greenlea Vaughan, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
North Clay/Clay City had a senior duo take command as Alexis VanDyke scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks and Miah Ballard scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Fleener, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Wayne City has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season. As for North Clay/Clay City, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne City will take on Mt. Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wayne City is coming into the contest with 12 straight losses on the road, meaning Mt. Carmel will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for North Clay/Clay City, they will face off against Robinson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Robinson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.
