Basketball Game Preview: Valor Academy vs. Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers

Valor Academy will head out on the road to face off against the Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Valor Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Discovery 65-42 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Valor Academy has posted since January 26, 2024.

Valor Academy can attribute much of their success to Maliqq Van Arsdale, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 20 points and four steals, and Maliqui Van Arsdale, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Maliqui is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. David Quiroa was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Sun Valley Magnet didn't have too much trouble with Lake Balboa College Prep on Friday as they won 66-49.

Sun Valley Magnet pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.7 points per game. As for Valor Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.

Valor Academy suffered a grim 80-59 defeat to Sun Valley Magnet in their previous meeting back in January. Can Valor Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
