Basketball Game Preview: Gretna East Griffins vs. Lincoln Northwest Falcons

The Gretna East Griffins will venture away from home to square off against the Lincoln Northwest Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gretna East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Lincoln Northwest likes a good challenge.

While Gretna East didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They rang in the new year with a 62-53 victory over Hastings on Friday.

Talan Hovie was his usual excellent self, going 5 for 7 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Drayke Brown, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Northwest came up short against Blair last Saturday, falling 68-46. The Falcons have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Gretna East has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Lincoln Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
