Jefferson faced Washington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Patriots. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 12 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jefferson has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Washington, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5.

Jefferson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
