Softball Recap: Fitzgerald Wins Going Away Against Madison

Fitzgerald won the last time they faced Madison and things went their way on Monday too. The Spartans blew past the Eagles 13-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Lydia Yokel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, CaSaundra Smith was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aziya Marks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Fitzgerald always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fitzgerald's record now sits at 4-6. As for Madison, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
