Baseball Recap: Christchurch School Sets Scoring Season-High Against Fork Union Military Academy

Christchurch School's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Fork Union Military Academy Blue Devils a 14-0 shutout. The Seahorses' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Cam Byers made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Christchurch School is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-3 otherwise. Byers was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Trey Fitchett was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jackson Weiner was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

Christchurch School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win snapped Christchurch School's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record. As for Fork Union Military Academy, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
