Football Recap: Myers Park Takes a Tough Playoff Loss + How To Watch

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Myers Park couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 34-21 to the West Charlotte Lions on Friday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Mustangs, who until this contest were averaging 11.75 points allowed.

Despite the loss, Myers Park had strong showings from Josh Falzarano Jr, who rushed for 114 yards and one TD, and Chaz Portis, who picked up 56 receiving yards and one touchdown. Falzarano Jr's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 113 rushing yards.

West Charlotte was led to victory by Sincere Gray and Jamouri Nichols. Gray rushed for 92 yards and one score on only eight carries, while Nichols rushed for 65 yards and a pair of TDs.

Myers Park's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for West Charlotte, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2.

Myers Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Charlotte, they will challenge Hough at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies' defense has only allowed 7.8 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them.
