Brillion is 8-2 against Kiel since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Lions will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Brillion is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Brillion earned a 6-1 victory over Roncalli. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Jets: they've now won three in a row.
Jocelyn Tamm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jana O'Connell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amaya Brooks, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Kiel was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Holstein. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost four in a row.
Kiel saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liz Neils, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Brillion's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Kiel, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Kiel's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brillion has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .502. It's a different story for Kiel, though, as they've only averaged .354. Will they be able to contain Brillion's hitters?
Everything went Brillion's way against Kiel in their previous matchup on April 10th, as Brillion made off with a 12-1 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
