Basketball Recap: Mansfield Senior Takes a Loss

Mansfield Senior was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They lost to the Lexington Minutemen at home by a 58-41 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tygers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-34 back in December of 2024.

Leading Lexington to victory were Makaree Chapman and Tatum Stover. Chapman posted 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Stover dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Chapman has scored at least a third of Lexington's points. Another player making a difference was Avaia Francis, who earned six points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Mansfield Senior's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Lexington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mansfield Senior has already played their next matchup (against West Holmes), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lexington will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Madison Comprehensive at 7:15 p.m.
