Basketball Recap: West Marion's Undefeated Season over After Four Games + How To Watch

If West Marion was riding high fresh off their 62-20 takedown of East Marion on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans fell just short of the Pearl River Central Blue Devils by a score of 44-42 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 41-39 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why West Marion lost, don't look at Neliyaha Smith. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-12 en route to 11 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Shannon Christopher, who posted eight points along with five assists and three steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Marion fell to 3-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Trojans beat Pearl River Central by a score of 47-36 on Tuesday.
