Basketball Recap: Saranac Lake Takes a Loss

Saranac Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 60-32 defeat at the hands of the AuSable Valley Patriots. The Red Storm lost against the Patriots in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 32-27 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Saranac Lake lost, don't look at Emma Akey. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points. Those 22 points gave Akey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Tomaszewski, who put up eight points.

Saranac Lake's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for AuSable Valley, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saranac Lake will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moriah at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. AuSable Valley also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Peru at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
