Cathedral Academy picks up seventh straight win on the road

Recap: Cathedral Academy Generals vs. St. John's Christian Academy Cavaliers

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Cathedral Academy Generals ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past St. John's Christian Academy 73-71. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cathedral Academy.

Cathedral Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Ward out in front who scored 28 points along with five assists and three steals. Ward is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Ajani Gresham, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds.

Despite the loss, St. John's Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Brock Ray, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Ray hasn't dropped below 19 points for four straight games. Tradd Law was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.

Cathedral Academy's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for St. John's Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cathedral Academy will take on Porter-Gaud at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Porter-Gaud will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Cathedral Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. John's Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Calhoun Academy at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (St. John's Christian Academy is ranked 209th, while Calhoun Academy is ranked 204th).
