Preview: Yulee Hornets vs. Clay Blue Devils
The Yulee Hornets will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Clay Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Yulee has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
Yulee suffered their biggest defeat since November 27, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 56-32 walloping at the hands of Fernandina Beach. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Yulee has suffered against Fernandina Beach since January 14, 2019.
Despite their loss, Yulee saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brooke Reid, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reid has scored all season. Rheyna Hilton was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Clay's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They came out on top against Middleburg by a score of 42-34.
Yulee's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-14. As for Clay, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8.
Yulee suffered a grim 54-33 defeat to Clay when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Clay's Teaghan Moses, who scored 25 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
