Softball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Morgantown's Winning Streak

Morgantown dropped their record down to 10-7 on Saturday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Hawks. The Mohigans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

Morgantown saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was LIZ ALSOP, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run. PAIGE RHODES was another, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for University, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On University's side, Sophia Lehosit spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Lehosit has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maddie Campbell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Park, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Coincidentally, Morgantown and University will both be playing Jefferson the next time they take the field. The Hawks will host the Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Mohigans will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
