Softball Recap: Richmond Comes Up Short

Richmond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Union Pines Vikings, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-2 back in March.

Jakayla Steele was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Richmond's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Union Pines, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richmond will face off against Jack Britt at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Buccaneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.71 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Union Pines, they will square off against Hoke County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bucks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
