Mayfield barely beat San Marino the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cubs put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 3-0 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won six in a row.

One reason for the win was Mayfield's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-17, 25-16.

Despite the loss, San Marino had strong showings from Ariminty Yu, who had 17 digs and one assist, and Cynthia Kackstetter, who had three digs, two aces, and one block. Yu is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 41 games she's played dating back to last season.

Mayfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for San Marino, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6-1.

Looking ahead, Mayfield will head out to challenge Chadwick at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Marino, they will host Gabrielino at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
