Volleyball Recap: Jena Stanley Key Part of Team Effort in Cardinals Win

If Victory Christian Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Victory Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Olivia Smith. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Patriots on Tuesday thanks in part to Smith, who had nine kills, eight digs, and eight aces. She has been hot recently, having posted five or more aces the last three times she's played.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Victory Christian took every set by at least 14 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-9, 25-11.

Victory Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jena Stanley, who had 13 digs and three aces. Those 13 digs gave Stanley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Vernelson, who had eight digs, six kills, and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Victory Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Victory Christian's record now sits at 11-5. As for Victory Christian Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Victory Christian will host Abundant Life Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Victory Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Heritage Christian at 4:30 p.m.
