Baseball Recap: Sugar Valley Rural Beats Sullivan County for Their Third Straight Win

Sugar Valley Rural waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Sullivan County Griffins 10-2. For the Phoenix, this counts as revenge for the 15-14 win the Griffins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Brody Swanger was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Sugar Valley Rural is 2-1 when Swanger allows three or fewer earned runs, but 3-7-1 otherwise. Swanger was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tobias Conoway, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Lincoln Breon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Sugar Valley Rural always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sullivan County only posted an OBP of .353.

Sugar Valley Rural's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-8-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Sullivan County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.
