Football Recap: Granite Hills Eagles vs. Grossmont Foothillers

Granite Hills lost against Grossmont two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Granite Hills Eagles took a 33-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grossmont Foothillers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Foothillers are ranked 51st).

Sophia Argeres and Taylor Nash certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Argeres picked up 70 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Nash threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (96 yards to be exact) also went to Illiana Cruse.

A big part of Grossmont's victory came down to the chemistry between Marissa Farace and her top target Gabi Thomas. Farace threw for 360 yards and five touchdowns while Thomas picked up 160 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Thomas showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 60 yards.

Granite Hills' loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Grossmont, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Granite Hills has the luxury of staying home for another week and will welcome Steele Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Grossmont has already played their next game, a 25-19 victory against Olympian on the 29th.
