Volleyball Recap: Cupertino Pioneers vs. Wilcox Chargers

After flying high against Fremont last Wednesday, Cupertino came back down to earth. The Pioneers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilcox Chargers on Monday. The Pioneers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Cupertino couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Wilcox a tough time in the first set. The final score came out to 30-28, 25-21, 10-25, 25-16.
April Pamichev paced Cupertino's offense, picking up 12 kills. Pamichev got some help from Sophia Song and her 23 assists. Claire Chien controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Leading Wilcox to victory were Isha Bisht and Sienna Spencer. Bisht had 29 digs and two aces, while Spencer had 23 digs and two assists. Those 29 digs gave Bisht a new career-high. Emma Gaba also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Cupertino's defeat dropped their record down to 24-7. As for Wilcox, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-14 record this season.
Cupertino didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Homestead on the 29th. As for Wilcox, they will challenge Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
