Preview: Jasper Vikings vs. West Point Warriors

Jasper has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the West Point Warriors at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Jasper stacked a 16th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on East Limestone with a sharp 67-41 victory. Given Jasper's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while East Limestone is ranked 120th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jasper's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Hollingsworth, who scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Hollingsworth is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Missy Odom was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with four steals.

Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, West Point rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 59-47. Winning may never get old, but West Point sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Jasper's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-4. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.2 points. As for West Point, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 20 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season.

Jasper was dealt a bruising 72-44 defeat at the hands of West Point in their previous matchup back in December of 2019. Can Jasper avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
