Softball Recap: Riverside Prep Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Riverside Prep made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Academy for Academic Excellence, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Silver Knights beat the Knights on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Silver Knights, who have now won six matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Bree Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Garcia was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meeka Martinez, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Riverside Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.

Riverside Prep has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-7-1.

Riverside Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
