Volleyball Game Preview: New Brockton Gamecocks vs. Opp Bobcats

New Brockton is 0-10 against Opp since September of 2023 but things could change on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 3:30 p.m. Opp took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on New Brockton, who comes in off a win.

New Brockton took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Pike County. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Gamecocks as it put an end to their four-match losing streak.

Meanwhile, Opp came up short against Dothan last Saturday and fell 2-0.

Opp was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-23.

New Brockton will have to keep a close watch on Crislyn Birge and Abree Kelley, a pair of players who had a big impact on Opp's prior game. Birge had 17 digs, while Kelley had 11 digs.

Opp's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for New Brockton, their win bumped their record up to 5-14.

New Brockton might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Opp when the teams last played back in September. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Bobcats' Rylie Kate Thrash, who had ten aces and four digs.
