Hueneme came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cathedral City Lions a 1-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by just one run.

Not much got past Jaucelynn Ayala, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Cathedral City off the board. Ayala has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 22 consecutive appearances.

Hueneme pushed their record up to 11-14 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Cathedral City, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 15-15 record.
