Basketball Recap: Trona Tornadoes vs. Baker Braves
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Big Pine, Trona was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged the Baker Braves out 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tornadoes have posted since January 9, 2024.
Despite the loss, Baker still got an impressive performance from Anthony Ortiz, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points and six boards. That was a full 47.8% of Baker's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Ibarra, who earned seven points and five steals.
Trona has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. As for Baker, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.
