Basketball Game Preview: Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings vs. Solon Spartans

Vinton-Shellsburg is 2-8 against Solon since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vikings will head out to face off against the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Vinton-Shellsburg didn't have too much trouble with Grinnell as they won 64-46. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Meanwhile, Solon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 59-55 to Decorah-North Winneshiek.

Solon's loss dropped their record down to 18-2. As for Vinton-Shellsburg, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Vinton-Shellsburg came up short against Solon in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, falling 62-58. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
