Basketball Recap: Lincoln East Falls Despite Big Games from Sadie Mccleary and Addison Shirk

Lincoln East lost against Omaha Westside back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lincoln East Spartans received a blow as they fell 58-39 to the Omaha Westside Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th in Nebraska, while the Warriors are ranked 21st in Nebraska).

Addison Shirk and Sadie Mccleary certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Shirk posted five points and three steals, while Mccleary put up 11 points. Those 11 points gave Mccleary a new career-high.

Kimora Jenkins was nothing short of spectacular for Omaha Westside: she went 6-for-10 to rack up 15 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Himayajo Metoyer, who earned 12 points.

Lincoln East has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. The win was the eighth in a row for Omaha Westside, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.

Lincoln East wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-49 loss against Millard South on the 26th. As for Omaha Westside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-45 victory against Norfolk on the 26th.
