Softball Game Preview: Union City Golden Tornadoes vs. South Fulton Red Devils

The Union City Golden Tornadoes will challenge the South Fulton Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union City has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Union City's offense. They lost 15-0 to Westview on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Tornadoes in their meetings with the Chargers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but South Fulton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past Dresden 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Devils have posted against the Lions since May 12, 2022.

Caroline Barclay spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Alli McFarland and Lexi Lee did most of the damage at the plate: McFarland scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-4, while Lee scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Lee has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilie Martin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Union City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for South Fulton, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Union City beat South Fulton 12-8 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does Union City have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Fulton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
