Basketball Game Preview: Carrollton Trojans vs. Westlake Lions

The Carrollton Trojans will challenge the Westlake Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Carrollton has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Westlake will arrive with three straight wins.

Last Friday, Carrollton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-46 to Douglas County.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Westlake took on Douglas County on Tuesday. Westlake blew past Douglas County, posting a 70-40 victory. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Tigers are ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westlake is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Carrollton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Carrollton skirted past Westlake 68-66 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does Carrollton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westlake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
