Soccer Recap: Emerald Comes Up Short

Emerald came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 6-0 to the Southside Tigers. Emerald were not able to make up for their loss to Southside from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Emerald was without their leading scorer, Luis Hernandez Tovar, in Thursday's match. With Hernandez Tovar sidelined, Mason Jackson got his first action of the season.

Emerald has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Southside, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Emerald is set to challenge their familiar foe Fountain Inn at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Southside will square off against rival Wren at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
