Softball Recap: Ninety Six Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Ninety Six strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against the Pelion Panthers by a score of 6-1. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jocelyn Coleman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Katie Fortner and Olivia Coster did most of the damage at the plate: Fortner went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Coster went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Emma Gentry also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Ninety Six's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Pelion, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Ninety Six will head out to take on Batesburg-Leesville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pelion, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 23-7 win against River Bluff on the 18th.
