Baseball Recap: Schaumburg Christian Comes Up Short

Schaumburg Christian extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-11 in the process. They came up short against the Westminster Christian Warriors, falling 7-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 back in April.

As for Westminster Christian, they pushed their record up to 12-12 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Considering they have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Westminster Christian's part, the result came thanks to Elijah Geu's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up six Ks. Geu also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Warriors are 6-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Sam Dries was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Luke Bartolome, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Schaumburg Christian will face off against Christian Liberty at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.29 runs per game on average), something the Conquerors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Westminster Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Larkin at 4:30 p.m. The Warriors are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
