Basketball Recap: Beloit Memorial Comes Up Short

Beloit Memorial lost against Union Grove back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The matchup between the Beloit Memorial Purple Knights and the Union Grove Broncos didn't end well, with the Beloit Memorial Purple Knights falling 72-58. While losing is never fun, the Purple Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Broncos are ranked 25th).

Union Grove's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashley Lamers, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 18 rebounds. Lamers is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Samantha Hafferkamp was another key player, putting up 21 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Beloit Memorial's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Union Grove, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Beloit Memorial has already played their next game, a 65-33 defeat against Guilford on the 20th. As for Union Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-61 loss against The Prairie School on the 18th.
