Softball Game Preview: Strath Haven Panthers vs. Garnet Valley Jaguars

Strath Haven hasn't had much luck against Garnet Valley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panthers will welcome the Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. Strath Haven has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Strath Haven had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Marple Newtown put an end to it on Wednesday. The Panthers lost 16-0 to the Fightin' Tigers. The game marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Garnet Valley). They blew past Lower Merion 23-4 on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Aces: they've now won seven in a row.

The team relied heavily on Zoey Rogers, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane DerOhannessian, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Garnet Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Strath Haven's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Garnet Valley, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Strath Haven suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Garnet Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
