Baseball Game Preview: Medway Mustangs vs. Hopkinton Hillers

Medway has won three straight games at home, while Hopkinton has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Mustangs will host the Hillers at 4:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Medway is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Holliston just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since April 8, 2024.

Medway saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Heavner, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Hopkinton and Dover-Sherborn meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Hillers came up short against the Raiders, falling 8-2. Like the Mustangs, the Hillers also had to let a streak go: they had won three straight, but that streak is no more.

Travis Rych was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Hopkinton's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Medway, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.
