Softball Recap: Lehman Catholic Cavaliers vs. Covington Buccaneers

Lehman Catholic extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-7. They lost 24-0 to the Covington Buccaneers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cavaliers of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Covington, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

For Covington's part, Jayda McClure made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. McClure has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, five RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Emalyn Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Karlee Schwartz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
