Basketball Game Preview: Wortham Bulldogs vs. Frost Polar Bears

Wortham hasn't had much luck against Frost recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wortham Bulldogs will face off against the Frost Polar Bears at 7:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Wortham was beaten by Mildred 56-12. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Frost made easy work of Dawson on Friday and carried off a 47-23 win. The Polar Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Wortham better keep an eye on Brenda Manrriquez. She was instrumental in Frost's win, putting up 15 points along with eight steals and six boards. Manrriquez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Curl, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks.

Frost pushed their record up to 17-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Wortham, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Wortham was taken down by Frost 48-11 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Wortham avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
