Laney is 8-2 against North Brunswick since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Laney Buccaneers will venture away from home to square off against the North Brunswick Scorpions at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Laney is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Ashley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Laney blew Ashley out of the water with a 75-46 final score. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Screaming Eagle are ranked 255th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Laney's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colin Lamb, who made all 5 shots he took for 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Fortun, who posted 12 points.

Laney smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, North Brunswick waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They escaped with a win against the Pirates by the margin of a single free throw, 72-71.

North Brunswick's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8. As for Laney, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Laney won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, slipping by North Brunswick 46-45. Will Laney repeat their success, or does North Brunswick have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
