Baseball Recap: Douglas Byrd Comes Up Short

Douglas Byrd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 34th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 23-0 to the Gray's Creek Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 back in March.

Douglas Byrd's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Gray's Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Douglas Byrd will take on rival Cape Fear at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Gray's Creek is set to challenge their familiar foe Lumberton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Bears have won four straight at home, while the Pirates won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
