Recap: Maize South Mavericks vs. Andover Central Jaguars

The Maize South Mavericks put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 66-47 victory over Andover Central. Given Maize South's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Andover Central is ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jace Jefferson and Brody DeGarmo certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Jefferson scored 13 points, while DeGarmo scored ten points. Jordan Neal was another key contributor, scoring four points.

Maize South pushed their record up to 16-0 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Andover Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Maize South will head out on the road to challenge Derby at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Andover Central, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Andover at 7:30 p.m. Andover knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Andover Central likes a good challenge.
