Basketball Recap: Plaquemine Takes a Loss

Plaquemine lost a heartbreaker to West Feliciana when they met back in January of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Plaquemine Green Devils were dealt a 63-34 defeat at the hands of the West Feliciana Saints. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Green Devils have suffered since November 19, 2024.

West Feliciana's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Samaria Berry led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. The contest was Berry's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanaya Berry, who went 8 for 17 on her way to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Plaquemine's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-14. As for West Feliciana, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plaquemine will host McKinley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Feliciana, they will welcome St. Michael at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Michael will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something West Feliciana surely won't give up without a fight.
