The Forbush Falcons will face off against the Reidsville Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forbush is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Forbush proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out North Surry 13-12. Surprisingly, this marked the Falcons' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Konner Sizemore looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Dylan McClamrock and Aaron Hutchens did most of the damage at the plate: McClamrock went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Hutchens got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that McClamrock has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Moxley, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.
Forbush always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Reidsville and McMichael, and McMichael kept the tradition alive. The Rams fell just short of the Phoenix by a score of 7-5 last Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rams have suffered against the Phoenix since March 21, 2023.
Reidsville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Gengler, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Forbush's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Reidsville, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Forbush hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Reidsville struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
