Softball Recap: Biddeford Gets the Win

Biddeford won the last time they faced South Portland and things went their way on Friday too. The Tigers came out on top against the Red Riots by a score of 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Jaylah Trottier was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

Trottier wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Those three hits gave Smith a new career-high.

Biddeford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Portland only posted a batting average of .200.

Biddeford now has a winning record of 2-1. As for South Portland, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Biddeford will face off against Scarborough at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers are facing the Red Storm at the right time seeing as the Red Storm are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for South Portland, they will square off against Deering at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Riots will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: the Rams will have lost three straight heading into Monday's matchup.
