Baseball Recap: Pomona's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Pomona had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out the Littleton Lions 2-1. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 5-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Pomona got a great performance from Tyler Dempsey as he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Dempsey has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Gage Douglas was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. Pomona is 4-2 when Douglas posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-7 otherwise.

Pomona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pomona's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Littleton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
