Football Recap: Mesa Verde Comes Up Short

After flying high against Leroy Greene Academy on Monday, Mesa Verde came back down to earth. The Mavericks fell 13-6 to the Foresthill Wildfires on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mavericks in their meetings with the Wildfires: they've now lost three in a row.

Adrianna Jaimez threw for 179 yards and one TD while completing 75% of her passes. Jaiden Alexander was her top target, picking up 69 receiving yards.

Carly Clarke was a one-woman wrecking crew For Foresthill. as she picked up 100 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 66 yards.

Mesa Verde's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Foresthill, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Mesa Verde will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Encina at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Foresthill, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Leroy Greene Academy at 4:30 p.m.
