Marshall barely beat Hastings the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Redhawks put the hurt on the Saxons with a sharp 17-1 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Redhawks have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Claire Kelly made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Layne Churchill and Gwen Beach did most of the damage at the plate: Churchill went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Beach went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI. Those three runs gave Beach a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brielle Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
