Baseball Recap: El Camino Takes a Loss

El Camino had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 10-10 to make it five. They lost 8-1 to the Del Norte Nighthawks. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Nighthawks since on Thursday.

As for Del Norte, they now have a winning record of 10-9. That seven run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Del Norte's part, Grey Gusich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up six Ks. Gusich has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aiden Sun was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Griffen Gusich was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

While El Camino had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
