Baseball Game Preview: Lewisburg Patriots vs. Southaven Chargers

Lewisburg is 8-2 against Southaven since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lewisburg Patriots will host the Southaven Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Lewisburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Lewisburg is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Winter Park, who was ranked 13th in their home state at the time (Lewisburg was ranked first). Lewisburg fell just short of Winter Park by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The Patriots' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Caden Nelson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Andrew Hendrichovsky, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Southaven had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over First Assembly Christian on Thursday.

Lewisburg's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Southaven, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
