Preview: Columbia Independent vs. Calvary Lutheran Lions
After six games on the road, Columbia Independent is heading back home. They will take on the Calvary Lutheran Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Columbia Independent earned a 48-41 victory over Missouri Military Academy.
Columbia Independent's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deolu Adibiyi, who scored nine points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Eric Dirksmeyer, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Tuscumbia scored an imposing 58 points on Thursday, Calvary Lutheran still came out on top. Calvary Lutheran snuck past Tuscumbia with a 64-58 win.
Columbia Independent's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Calvary Lutheran, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Columbia Independent was taken down by Calvary Lutheran 63-23 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Columbia Independent was down 40-7.
