Recap: Union Academy Cardinals vs. Hickory Grove Christian Lions
The Union Academy Cardinals pushed their score all the way to 70 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 77-70 to Hickory Grove Christian. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Union Academy in their matchups with Hickory Grove Christian: they've now lost three in a row.
Union Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ethan Rangolan, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Rangolan set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Aidan Scruitsky was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with four blocks.
Union Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Hickory Grove Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6.
Union Academy will head out on the road to face off against Parkwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hickory Grove Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Westminster Catawba Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westminster Catawba Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hickory Grove Christian in their respective states (Westminster Catawba Christian is ranked 113th in South Carolina, while Hickory Grove Christian is ranked 354th in North Carolina).
